
Ashley Heintzelman, Ph.D.
Licensed Psychologist & Eating Disorder Specialist
Dr. Heintzelman specializes in the treatment of adults and adolescents struggling with eating disorders and body image issues. Other clinical areas of specialty include mood disorders, relational concerns, trauma, and identity development.
Dr. Heintzelman provides individual psychotherapy and especially enjoys collaborating within a multidisciplinary treatment team to provide closely coordinated treatment for individuals battling eating and body image concerns.
Her founding of the Ampersand Psych Clinic was driven by her passion for partnering specifically with trauma and grief specialists, as addressing these clinical areas are often important components of eating disorder recovery.
Dr. Heintzelman believes in a strong emphasis on educating and involving parents, spouses, siblings, and coaches in the treatment experience. She approaches therapy from an integrative approach and utilizes person-centered, psychodynamic, and cognitive-behavioral theories in her work with clients. In addition to her work in private practice, in order to fulfill her passion for training and teaching, Dr. Heintzelman regularly supervises masters and doctoral level developing clinicians.
When she’s not working, Dr. Ashley Heintzelman loves being with her children, writing, as evidenced by her published book, “Free to Be”, reading, being in nature, and getting hooked on anything true crime related.
